To some degree, one might argue that the Brooklyn Nets’ decision to freeze the tempo of November 4, 2024’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies’ typically-fast-paced attack was an intelligent one. Yet, as they learned on multiple occasions, even during the 2024-25 NBA season’s 10th-slowest-paced game to date — just 93 possessions per 100 — there’s no gameplan capable of stopping Ja Morant’s frenetic engine from going for a spin or two. Supplying his first of two breathtaking examples just prior to halftime, Morant, as quick as a blur, leaves even a road, black-and-white-clad crowd in awe-worthy approval, powering a balletic finish through following a 360-degree spin. Never one to stop at just one thrilling display, Morant leaves Brooklyn’s interior defenders out to dry through a second spin-cycle layup, this time with additional hang time and an outstretched, logo-like pose mid-flight. The Nets would offset Morant’s enthralling playstyle with a two-point upset victory, but not before the two-time All-Star left the show officially stolen. Keeping the shorthanded Grizzlies afloat, Morant tallied 25 points (on 1o-of-22 shooting), alongside five rebounds, nine assists, and one 3-pointer.
