Humorously aware of the Golden State Warriors’ goal of forcing a Game Six, and, as he put it, “get Wardell back,” Anthony Edwards reached into his toolbox with plans to both throw monkey wrenches and drop hammers all at once. Nearly 100 games into 2024-25’s full season, and tossing “Dunk of the Year” entries through the ballot, the Minnesota Timberwolves superstar shoots out of a metaphorical cannon, flattening Jonathan Kuminga’s stance effectively enough to carve out a through-the-lane path. Exacting revenge after ending up on the wrong end of Kuminga’s poster jam earlier, Edwards gets comeuppance — quite literally — just three minutes later with a ferocious throwdown, adding to his already almost-one-of-a-kind collection. Few experiences rival that of watching one of Edwards’ single-half scoring eruptions, and on May 10, 2025, Edwards illustrated why, scoring 28 of his 36 over the final two quarters, alongside a four-rebound, four-assist, one-block, five-triple complement. It encouraged Edwards’ 18th postseason victory — for reference, Minnesota had only 18 postseason wins as a franchise over its first 31 seasons — planting the seeds for a second-straight Western Conference Finals berth just days later.
